HMS-Chinese Biomedical Student Organization LOGO (co-designed by Francis Kim & Jianing Liu)
This logo weaves the Chinese symbol “dragon” into the DNA double helix, the central dogma of contemporary biology. Each of the four letters “CBSO” not only represents the abbreviation of Chinese Biomedical Student Organization, but also stands in place of the DNA bases, pairing up with the scales on the back of the dragon, signaling the unbreakable bonding among Chinese biomedical students and scholars, as well as active participation of Chinese scientists in biomedical researches. Both the color red and the dragon symbolize the ethnical identity of the founding members and board members, while double helix in black shows the devotion of our members to biological and biomedical sciences.

Francis Kim (Harvard College 07’) is currently working on his Master’s thesis at the Joslin Diabetes Center in the laboratory of Amy Wagers, and will be starting medical school next fall. Francis’ talents in drawing and his artistic insights have been instrumental to the execution and completion of this project. (12/31/2009)
